Checkout 51 – A new EASY Way to Get Cash Back on Groceries

Checkout 51

I’ve been using Checkout 51 for a while now. It’s a great new service! I always like to ‘checkout’ a service before I recommend it. That means that maybe I am not always the fastest to bring you the new stuff, but when I do, you know it has been vetted and that it does, indeed, pay, and isn’t a hassle.

They way Checkout 51 works is this – every week, they post a new list of offers. You can print them out if you like. OR, if you have a smartphone, you can download the app. Then, you shop as you normally would. When you get done, either scan or photograph your receipt, and you get credit on the offers you bought. Your balance adds up, and when you get $20, you can withdraw it.

What’s cool is it combines with coupons, e-coupons, and other kick back services. So far, every week I’ve used it, they offered a vegetable, which is a food category that is a bit hard to find coupons for.

There should be no reason why you cannot use this service if you use food stamps/SNAP. In fact, it might be one of the best services I’ve seen for people using SNAP. They’ve had several very healthy, inexpensive, everyday products, such as strawberries, OJ, eggs, and carrots.

I’m finding that combining coupons with Catalina’ At-Register deals, SavingStar, Ibotta, Checkout 51 and Rebates – I’m trimming my food and household expenses down more and more even after I leave the store.

Info about Saving Star:

I love Saving Star. Once you get it set up, all you have to do is go to the site occasionally and activate coupons – there’s nothing to take to a store or do other than that. It usually takes them about 2 weeks to put the money in my account- it’s not that they are slow, it’s just they have to get the information from the stores. Once I have $5.00 I cash out and usually see the money the next day. I’ve cashed out several times now – it’s always nice to get that bit of kickback!)

Lots of Free Magazine Subscriptions Available

RecycleBank is a web service that let’s you do little activities and recycle items if you are in select areas for points. Anyone can do the activities though, and they are quite easy and don’t take a lot of time. I’ve been a member for a couple of months now.

You then can trade your points for coupons, discounts, magazine subscriptions, or save them for gift cards.

Right now the following magazines are available:
For 115 points, you can choose a one year subscription to:

Good Housekeeping,
Everyday Food,
Redbook,
Marie Claire,
Cosmopolitan,
Seventeen,
Whole Living,
Veranda,
Town & Country, and a few more.
Martha Stewart Living is available for 230 points.

First, sign up for an account, here: Recycle Bank Signup

Then, go to Earn Points. They are easy – it’s very short little videos and animations, and occasionally a 3 or 4 answer quiz. They are fairly self explanatory. It isn’t a spammy site. It’s a very easy, straightforward site with occasionally good contests. I won the “Green Your Home” photo contest not long ago. They’ve been very nice to deal with.

There’s probably at least 50 points available right now. Usually I can easily earn 200 points every week or two, and I’ve learned a bit about recycling in the process. I’ve used a lot of my free points for cat food, soda and Honest Tea coupons.

How to Use Catalinas from The Coupon Network

Coupon network has a few new printables out: Click here.

They have 2 sorts of offerings, coupons, and in-store offers.

The coupons are pretty self-explanatory. Select what you want and print.

They also have in-store offers for other items for the Catalina printers that some stores have. These are under the tab, YourBucks.

Locally, they are at Kroger. I’m not sure about other stores. They will give you some special offer if you buy a certain thing. Often it is cash back. For instance, one of my favorite recent ones was “Buy $6.00 worth of Yoplait and get $3.00 back on your next order.” Boy I miss that one!

Anyway, it looks like currently they have a GOOD SEASONS special where if you buy a 4 or 5 pack you get $1.00 back on your next order. IF you can find a sale on this, at a store that has the Catalinas, and IF you can combine it with a coupon, then that’s potentially a great deal if you like Good Seasons anyway, or if you would like to try it. A lot of people – like my dad – like it as a marinade for chicken. They have some nice other offers as well.

You don’t need to take anything in the store to use those. If you just buy the product in the store, in the time frame of the offer, the Catalina will print. If it is a dollar off amount for your next purchase, I put it in my wallet like cash, because they are good for any item you buy on your next order. These do roll over as well, meaning you can use them to buy the same item again and get another Catalina back. That’s how the yogurt coupon was netting me a lot of free yogurt! I was rolling over Catalinas, using coupons that doubled, and they were on sale.

If you watch Extreme Couponing, a TV show from TLC, you will see these coupon wizards using a lot of Catalinas. That’s one way that they get their balances so very low.
