Checkout 51 – A new EASY Way to Get Cash Back on Groceries

Checkout 51

I’ve been using Checkout 51 for a while now. It’s a great new service! I always like to ‘checkout’ a service before I recommend it. That means that maybe I am not always the fastest to bring you the new stuff, but when I do, you know it has been vetted and that it does, indeed, pay, and isn’t a hassle.

They way Checkout 51 works is this – every week, they post a new list of offers. You can print them out if you like. OR, if you have a smartphone, you can download the app. Then, you shop as you normally would. When you get done, either scan or photograph your receipt, and you get credit on the offers you bought. Your balance adds up, and when you get $20, you can withdraw it.

What’s cool is it combines with coupons, e-coupons, and other kick back services. So far, every week I’ve used it, they offered a vegetable, which is a food category that is a bit hard to find coupons for.

There should be no reason why you cannot use this service if you use food stamps/SNAP. In fact, it might be one of the best services I’ve seen for people using SNAP. They’ve had several very healthy, inexpensive, everyday products, such as strawberries, OJ, eggs, and carrots.

I’m finding that combining coupons with Catalina’ At-Register deals, SavingStar, Ibotta, Checkout 51 and Rebates – I’m trimming my food and household expenses down more and more even after I leave the store.

Easy Ways to Make Some Spare Money Online

If you have a fixed or low income, it can be really nice to be able to make a bit of extra money online. There’s several ways of doing this, though some are more hassle than others.

Here are a few of my favorite ways:

    • Postloop – Get paid to post. You have to sign up, and post on their forums for a few posts. Then they will score you. If you get a high enough score, which is fairly easy if you type in all sentences, and you are a native English speaker. After you get your score, if you are approved, you will be able to post for pay. It pays about 5 cents a post to start, and several people make $50.00 or more a week there.Personally, I just join the forums I’m interested in, and participate daily in them. When you get 100 points, you can cash out. The better your posts, the more you get per post. There are all sorts of forums, so it’s easy to find one with a topic that interests you.

    • Swagbucks – While you can’t earn actual money with Swagbucks, you can earn Amazon gift cards, and Amazon offers nearly everything so it’s as valuable to me. You simply use their website to search, or you can watch ads, play games, look for Swagbuck codes on their blog, or on websites like this one. When you get 450 Swagbucks, you can trade out for a $5.00 Amazon Card. I usually make a few a month, depending on how often I use the site. I use them to buy frugal things that we need for the most part, but sometimes I buy gifts or a treat for one of us.

  • Sweepstakes & Contests -I also like to enter contests and sweepstakes online. Just this morning I won a $50 gift card to DSW.com, enough for nice shoes or a purse. I have won cash several times, and lots of other items and free food coupons. I find that it’s a very lucrative hobby, but it’s not for everyone. If you want to win, you have to enter lots of sweepstakes. It requires patience.
      • Sweepstakes are where you basically put your name in a hat, and so many people win.
    • Contests are when you make something, or do something, and your entry is chosen. Contests have better odds, but require more work. I have a friend that does cooking contests, and she’s won a lot of things, including a trip to Europe! She loves to cook, and concentrating on the contests gives her a reason to explore her culinary passion.

An easy, free way to find contests and sweeps are to check out the contest/sweep forum at Slickdeals.net. The forum is easy to use, but if you are technical enough to use the RSS feed, located at the very bottom of the page, you can often get in the contests that offer something free to the first 100 or however many in time to get the freebie, and some of them are nice! Also, go ahead and join the forum, there’s a contest every day for some really nice prizes (especially around Christmas!) and all you have to do is click to enter!
